ExperienceI did a work placement in a primary school last year and was predominantly working with Key Stage 2 students and helping to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. I also designed and implemented a new reading record specifically for dyslexic students, based on colours and formats that are known to make it easier for them to recognise individual phonemes as well as different letter groupings.
I did three months of voluntary learning support at East Hunsbury Primary school during my gap year, helping year 5 and 6 pupils become more familiar and comfortable with SATs test format and content. I also worked with students with behavioural and learning difficulties in order to help them become more well adjusted and productive in their school environment.
I would like to become a tutor as I enjoy interacting with children and the challenge of tailoring lessons and activities to suit the needs of individuals. I thrive on watching an individual progress and gain confidence in a subject and I think that I can help children gain better knowledge and understanding in areas that they may be struggling in.
I belive I am able to explain learning tasks clearly and easily whilst making them fun, in addition I have had only positive feedback from my work within schools and I look forward to the opportunity to work with new children soon.
HobbiesI enjoy reading, films and all things chocolatey. I do a range of sports in my spare time and hve recently got into climbing which has been an amazing experience and a real chance to challenge myself. I love spending time with my friends and family, watching live music and practicing my cooking on any willing recipients
